I was born like a week from Wolfenstein 3D, so I was in diapers at the time of Doom, but even though I thought Quake 2, Terminator : Future Shock, and Goldeneye were all cool games as a little lad, Doom, which was older and sort of less advanced, was something else.

I catch a glimpse of it first when I'm maybe 7, and woah, there's a game I had never seen before. Doom 2? My brother ushers me out of the room and tells my mom I can't play it or watch, it's too violent, way more violent than Quake 2. The images burn into my mind instantly though, it's got cool guns with powerful muzzleflashes, but it also has a lot of occult and satanic imagery, the enemies aren't robots, cyborgs, aliens, or terrorists, they're evil demons from hell (and sometimes also cyborgs), and dead soldiers possessed by evil spirits.
I was mad into Diablo, which I was also way too young to play, so naturally a combination of sci-fi shooter action with satanic demon enemies captivated me instantly, and the detailed gore was fascinating, if also disgusting.

Funnily enough, the graphics was one of the things impressing me the most. I thought it was weird that you couldn't look up or down, but the guns and monsters looked super-realistic to me, with their photorealistic lighting and shading, and I had never seen that before, so to me, Doom 2 had better graphics than Goldeneye and Quake 2.
I was really too little to get any kind of good grasp on the gameplay or appreciating that aspect, but the visuals and music had me coming back repeatedly. It was a spooky and intimidating game, even with cheats, even playing with Simpsons Doom, which is what I managed to haggle as a deal with my brother.
The Simpsons was really funny to me, even if I barely understood that either at that age, so I got a lot of enjoyment out of that setup, but because regular Doom 2 was so cool to me, I would frequently go behind my brother's back and play it normal.

Beta 1.3 of HFFM Uncut
https://files.catbox.moe/jz0l8g.zip

>Fixed gimps on Map 01
>new E1 and E2 skies
>LANGUAGE lump, adding some obituaries and exit lines (exit lines can probably also be added to the base version with DeHacked)
>some more new sounds
I'd like to hear what you all think about the new sounds, as well as the obituaries and death messages. New sounds are all Gachi, but they don't all have to be (see the gimp, for instance, I think that muffling the meatball's sounds just the same would work well). Some of the obituaries are half hearted, I'd appreciate ideas here.

If anyone knows any more bugs, please chime in.

>Are we seriously making a project that only runs in one source port?
It'll do it in DSDA, the PrBoom+ fork it's based in, and GzDoom. If we skip the UMAPINFO stuff, we can make it run in older versions of PrBoom+ too, and whatever else can run Boom compat stuff.

>Are we seriously naming it Hard Fast Faggot Maps?
Yeah, it'll be fun. I love faggots, we'll just make a censored version when we're done for people without a sense of humor.

>These two issues will make it so that literally nobody outside of this board will ever play it.
Maybe, but if I had fun making it, and I had fun playing the levels, it's all good to me.

>Also, veto on balancing for UV fast, I'm not decino, I don't play that way
I think just one guy suggested balancing for UV fast.

>Decide to play Quake 3 for the first time
>Start on Hurt Me Plenty and get my shit pushed in
>Bump it down to Bring It On and pimp slap the shit out of Tier 2
I don't care if its cheap, those frags felt so fucking good.

First release of 2048GUNS.wad
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/535235566476853259/747022560574832690/2048GUNS.wad

It should all be done now. Maybe one day I'll do a second release of it with a skin for the BFG9000, perhaps also some added visual effects like ejecting casings, gunsmoke, etc.
For now, it'll be done though, so give it a go.
