To me this is the start of the real low point, there were still some good games but it was when the industry moved away from 2D but the 3D really wasn't good enough to make up for it yet.

Cherry picking at its finest. Why don't you compare Toy Story or EWJ on both consoles? Even when both games are drastically different like Contra and Alladin the mega drive comes out on top. And Sonic 3 and Comic Zone look/sound far nicer than Super Mario World or any other snes game you could list proving having more colours means bugger all if the system is a piece of junk.

It has babies in diapers and everything is cheerful and smiling. Sorry I prefer the look of Comix Zone and Earthworm Jim over it.

Comix Zone, how is this even a question?

I love the Genesis most. I don't 100% dislike anything since every system has had at least a couple good games but N64 is probably the one I dislike the most.

Not sure which I'd like more time with.

Where's the confusion? A lot of older games were awesome. That's why I'm still here even though I also love a lot of new games. New generations discovering classic games is great in my books.

I don't understand people who don't find it fun. I think it's a total blast.

I only feel satisfied if I had fun with the game. How much I played through it doesn't factor in, but if i have a lot of fun I will invariably play it through to the end, possibly more than once. If it's not fun I just drop it and don't look back.

I have zero problem with either of those. If the game is good and the extra content seems worthwhile I'm happy to pay for it. If it's not, I just as easily don't and either ignore it or move on to something else. I think it's almost always a net posiyltive. Just like of magically some cool.Comix Zone DLC somehow appeared I'd be all over it.

It's so great. Gets tough at some points but never feels cheap to me and there are multiple routs through the pages and slight puzzles figuring out how to get through taking as little damage as possible. I'm not usually a fan ofbeat em ups, even Streets of Rage doesn't do that much for me but I love Comix Zone.

>their challenge usually comes from tightly designed formations of enemies and bullet patterns.

Yeah I can see that, I was just throwing it out. I liked Tempest, which while not random always felt random. And Asteroids to an extent, but that was pretty limited. Geometry Wars was cool.

On a similar sort of vein, I've also never liked Beat em Ups for similar reasons. But Comix Zone added enough with different routs and little puzzles that it kept the game interesting the whole way through and like enough I occasionally revisit. That was another Nomad game.

Hurling insults doesn't help you make any kind of point. The fact that learning can happen while using save states is self evident, speed runners often use them to practice specific sequences and perfect techniques. So you claiming otherwise is simply wrong. So let's use an example.

Take Comix Zone and two players.

The first player has an emulator with a USB Genesis controller and save state at every panel in the game. It randomly selects one and he then practices it for a full 100 hours. Over and over, just that panel. After the time it randomly selects another until he's done that with each panel. That whole time he never plays through the game normally, he never even progress from one panel to the next in sequence. All he did was practice the save states.

The second player does none of that. Maybe he plays something else for that several thousand hours, maybe not. Whatever it is, it's not practicing playing Comix Zone with save states.

Now take player 1 and player 2, put them a room with a Genesis and the game. The essence of the argument you are making to me is that player 1 would not have learned anything or have an advantage.

You are wrong. I am sorry you hate the word, but it's a fact. After all that practice player 1 would have a massive advantage of both general muscle memory for the game's mechanics but also practice in every situation. He would have a far, far faster time clearing the game than the one who had never played it.

>Because it clearly says 'loyal Segafags', meaning for people who only bought Sega consoles.

Disregard this >>4168078 then. I didn't know you meant people who only supported one company. I like Sega, but not to the exclusion of others.

You mean a really cool game most people find too hard? Comix Zone maybe.

Most enemies can be easily stun locked and you're rarely overwhelmed in numbers. So do the people who say Comix Zone is incredibly hard just get stuck on the puzzle elements or forget to use the rat?

I'm curious if you found this game extremely hard, why?
