I get the attempt, but your take is terribly misguided.
While Sonic Adventure 1 sold the most on the Dreamcast, that doesn't take into account how pirated the DX PC version was among kids. Sonic Adventure 2 sold the most copies on the Gamecube and on Steam and was popular in the emulation community back then. Sonic Adventure games also gave 3D platformers a cinematic edge that very few games had. The extensive usage of vocal themes in games also became popular thanks to the Sonic Adventure duology.
They're not perfect, but their artistic intent was well remembered over time and it had NOTHING to do with Dreamcast nostalgia.
Don't forget also that Sonic's 3D games sold incredibly well in those days, and games like Unleashed and Colors were highly praised by fans and critics alike.
