It's not like any of his humor is edgy or scandalous, it's just really lame. Shoehorned pop culture references to stuff like Wheaties and Austin Powers and then dude weeed and literal fart jokes as plot points. If that's your thing though then have a blast.

This is a weird take. Granted I don't know exactly what people mean when they use the term SJW, but I am quite left of center even as Canadians go and likely someone you would label that way. Also as a huge anime nerd from the 80's and 90's I am not at all unusual in that regard. I'm not into anime much now but back then I had one mormon friend who voted conservative and he was super unusual. He's also the one of us still into it the most as well as not conservative at all anymore, ironically.


To the point though, I have also been complaining about that translation liteterally since it came out. In fact here if you see someone bashing Vic for his terrible sense of humor, specifically his pop culture shit, it's probably me. I'm not offended morally, I'm offended comedically. And if anything the people I've seen defend his translations usually say it's cause weed and anal probe jokes are "based" which granted I also only vaguely get, but doesn't seem to go along with SJW much.

Also I'll say this, the one translation of Lunar SS that wasn't done by Working Designs is even worse.

You literally never have to grind in the Working Designs versions of Lunar. Yes they're harder from the original but that's a good thing. Just explore each dungeon and area fully and you'll be fine.

I have a real hate boner for a lot of what Working Designs did, but this is a rare example where their balance changes worked out for the better.

Sure they tried but unfortunately when retarded man children try as hard as they can the result still sucks. They mostly fucked up every game they ported. In hindsight I wish they never existed even if jt meant none of the games ever got other translations.

Translation wise it depends how much you can stand Vic Ireland's sense of humor. Difficulty wise it's just fine and the saving thing isn't a problem unless you're an idiot.

The remake is kinda dogshit compared to the original though, so there's that.

There's a bunch of pop culture references, Austin Powers etc. They're all pretty bad, but the writing when they're not trying to be funny is decent.

I like the difficulty changes though since the jap version is a little too easy and the WD version is one of the few RPGs I consider to have near perfect balance where exploring each area but not stopping to grind makes each boss tough but beatable. Also the music track they wrote for the bonus dungeon is surprisingly good and fits the tone of the rest of the soundtrack really well.

The original was lighthearted but didn't have blatant pop-culture references and Vic added the fart noises and jokes because he thought it would be a funny reason for an old wizard to live in a tower.

No fuck them for adding Bill Clinton Joke in my Lunar. They are dumb sjws that ruined every game they "translated". They forced shitty unfunny lewd humor but censored Lucia's pure butt and fucked up gameplay by adding artificial difficulty like requiring you to pay magic points to save the fucking game. Dont even get me started on how much they fucked up silhouette mirage.
