Finally finished my map for Joel's mapping contest, after hours of polishing and balancing. My original idea kinda fell through the longer I worked on it and I decided to scrap it and started from scratch, and spent the past few days working on this map; I decided to try recreating a few maps from Doom 2 in name and theme alone and started with Gantlet, and then decided I wanted to try The Focus as well and ended up kinda stitching two maps together to fit the one map limit sue me for using a technicality loophole.
The ending's kinda rushed and a bit of a joke on Joel since I was running out of time but otherwise I think each half of the map came out really solid and well done. The first half is more focused on being a gauntlet (my idea was a boot-camp trial), so resources are scarce once you're in it and there's a lot of hell to fight off; the second half is more focused around twisting and looping paths with new openings in a tightly knit area. Any feedback is appreciated!
