Heh. Pic related.
I love the art, music, dungeons, and fusion mechanics. There's so much you can do in these games. Being able to talk your way out of fights is really nice too. If you have trouble fusing super demons you'll still create the same demons you're encountering in most areas, which almost always gives you a free pass. This is balanced by still needing to handle surprise attacks and full moon encounters, so the game won't let you take it -too- easy. Good stuff. Definitely my favorite franchise overall.

I've been doing something like that for about ~fifteen years now and I think you've got it just about right. I still have a closet full of games and a couple of grail items that probably will never sell, but my main focus is acquiring, cleaning, maintaining, and modding flexible game hardware and running most of my stuff from flash carts and hard drives. I would always sell off huge chunks of my collection at a time at swap meets and people would marvel at the shit I had. It was a good feeling and I'd let stuff go at the going rate or slightly lower, with my stuff usually being in great condition. Both my grails were found locally by chance, and two of the three retro sealed games I own were found at a used book store. The third is Wizardry IV, because of pic related. Also, I really love the box art.
