Yeah, the Saturn is easily better than the N64, but a lot of its games are just okay compared to other platforms. I think a lot of people treat it as some obscure gem console despite selling more units than SEGA CD and Dreamcast, which actually do have some obscure gems on them. It's still a cool console but I feel like a lot of the hype comes more from the aesthetic and weird marketing campaigns than the games themselves.

Well... It did have Popful Mail, the Lunar games, and Vay, if you had a SEGA CD. Aside from that there was stuff like Pantasy Star IV, the inferior Ys ports which were multiplat, stuff like Crusader of Centy, Monster World IV, and Beyond Oasis which was more action adventure. Saturn had a lot more in terms of RPG's and action adventure games I think. Dreamcast too sort of, especially with Skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2.

To add more. Snatcher really was one of the first English localisations of a Japanese game to be good. There was other stuff like Working Design's Sega CD, and even those localisations were 'loose' translations with lots of new in-jokes. I always enjoyed the localisation of Popful Mail. Also interesting that Popful Mail was another PC88 game that made its way to the Sega CD, like Snatcher. Silpheed is another one.

what are your favorite games on consoles that were less popular or otherwise had overall shitty libraries? i really like Popful Mail on Sega CD (I know it was on other platforms but I've only played this version)
