Morrowind Alchemy is insane. Just look up guides for it. You can make progressive alchemy items that boost your stats so you can make better alchemy items, which snowballs into absurd game-breaking stats.

How many years until something in the $100-$150 range can reliably and comfortably play Morrowind?

Good slaughter maps aren't tedious, so your issue then isn't with slaughter maps. See more slaughtery maps in Sunlust for example. One would have to have a really shitty taste to find those tedious. Unless of course, they're dying every 30 seconds in which case yeah, pretty damn tedious.

It's my favorite game of all time, never felt more immersed in game before or since. No matter how shit video games get I can always go back to Morrowind.
