Sounds like you got a good deal there. I've considered doing a stereo output mod on mine so I don't need to use the headphone jack and also an RGB bypass for jailbar elimination. Hoping eventually to end up with the ultimate Mega Drive.

Basically just region switching. There are single-switch and switchless mods but I used the hardware I had laying around and like the flexibility available (JDM games in 50hz anyone? ;-)

"Region" on MD/Genesis is achieved by a combination of language and frequency settings.

You need to modify both parameters to achieve 100% game compatibility.

There's no guide but as you see can see disconnect JP3 bridge with something sharp and then take a damn pencil and connect JP4 bridge for NTSC-U Mega Drive

Keep in mind though if you play on a LCD it most likely will not work because they hate the guys out of 60hz modded PAL Mega Drives.
