Fuck yeah, anon, I figured you'd pull it off. Where do you figure you'll go from this point?

>Only the first level is the same as the original game
I'd add level 7 in X68K is 1's level 5 revamped, but yeah, aside from borrowing a setpiece or two from the first game, it really is more like another retelling.

My guy, I've been playing a bunch of classicvanias on my 3DS as of late and I'm enjoying Simon's Quest quite a bit, more than usual, even.

I'd hardly put LoS Simon all that high up in the first place, never mind best, I mean the guy is impatient as fuck, doesn't finish the job at times, literally walks right into a trap twice, and even gets knocked out and brainwashed by Gabeula. However, a lot of that is pretty understandable considering he got orphaned and was bullied for it or something. His biggest failure is being a decoy protagonist to his own father and not really getting his story properly wrapped up. Poor sod probably doesn't even realize he met his mom and dad again after all those years.

Simon's probably my favorite Belmont as well, but I'm pretty sure literally everyone can block projectiles. Martial arts are something to respect, too, Richter can basically fucking fly with whip dashes and uppercuts.

I can't really agree with your statement about Nintendo zealots and Dracula X, anon. I've never seen Ninty fans go to bat for it, and the ones I do see are usually doing so because they see IV & RoB both as casual games in comparison, especially for what they did to player character controls and level design, respectively.
I nonetheless appreciate the sentiment about the tendency to put anything on a pedestal, though.

Exactly like this. Funny how the IVfags can actually discuss the games in depth in ways that both criticize and compliment while RoBfags usually just insult and make vague references to difficulty that were already deconstructed in this thread.

I'd unironically would like to hear from you what makes Bloodlines so great, preferably in its own right, would probably make for a more interesting thread by this point. Played it once recently at a friend's house on the collection, set it to American Normal mode without realizing what that meant, and I for one was enjoying myself until we stopped at I think the leaning tower of Piza. Never liked the fact that it never got any rereleases before, what have I been missing for all this time?
