I don't know anything about that specific model, but I love '80s Mitsubishi TVs. They were indeed frequently marketed as TV/Monitors, and had a technology similar to "Trinitron" called "Diamond-Vision". As you can see, they had composite input, which was kind of rare on consumer TVs from that era, ergo the "monitor" designation. My mother bought us a 1987 Mistubishi TV/Monitor to use with our Commodore 64", and she was always a stickler for doing a TON of research before buying electronics. I used that set to play just about every video game up until 2008.

Mine was a CS-2001R, so a successor to that model. I loved the shit out of it. Had a great picture and was extremely reliable. As far as I know, it still works and is stored away in my parents' attic. I'd say that has the potential to be a great set for you, especially with the stylish exterior design. For free, you've really got nothing to lose.
