Doomguy is a silly name but it's meant to be like that and works.
DoomSlayer sounds pretentious.It's not something like Doomsday or Goblin Slayer which make sense.

Is more of the cateogory such as Master Chief and Black Noir.

Those are actually good in my opinion.
Especially Scythe which still holds up to this day.

As I said Doomslayer Chronicles is a better example on how to not make a mapset,all flashy,too bloated and all around not fun with its encounters. I would say it's like an imitation of Doom 2016 maps but even the latter handled them better.
It's visually impressive but that's it.

It's either that or they're running out of ideas/suck at naming them.

Battlefield and COD are a prime example.
COD WW2 doesn't make sense because the franchise already visited that war in the past
Battlefield V is WW2 as well but the previous entry was named Battlefield 1 which takes place in WW1.
It's just so chronologically confusing as well.

DmC was a different can of worms because the creator was an arrogant prick who despised the source material.
Hugo Martin on the other hand highly respects the previous games and their legacy.

Unfortunately they're constantly in denial,me included.
Watching a franchise dead and kept in captivity by a greedy greasy bastard is not easy.
It's like Metroid fans after Other M.An insult to the franchise,kept alive only through crossovers and merch.
After 7 years they finally got a good game.

Unfortunately Duke will live with the embarassment of having a game that took way too long and hyped beyond our imaginations which ultimately didn't deliver.
The modding community will keep the memory of the franchise alive but for now is dead.

Hope Doom Eternal doesn't have the same fate.

Have you ever tried to collect all the secrets in a map and found one that you felt was mandatory to find in order to survive what's coming up next?
Especially on higher difficulties?

I would say the Napalm Launcher in E1M1 from Blood on Well Done.
This thing is a god's gift and helps you a lot against the hitscanner groups in the next map. The cultists here have a femtosecond reaction on this difficulty
The dynamite is still the coolest weapon but if I had to use the right timing against them I would be already dead.
