It is an old pic. I have many more old Puyo pics I could have used, but that one had DA! in it.

Capacitors don't last. Like anything man-made, without constant maintenance, the lifespan will degrade. Factors such as temperature, humidity, pressure changes, and just simply time can adversely affect how the Game Gear functions in the long run. Typically the first to go is the sound, but sometimes the screen. The failure rate is pretty high now because it has been that long.

It only seems that way because the board moves fast now.

It is a nice portable system. In its day, it was a change of pace from the Gameboy kiosks to the GameGear kiosks. I remember it had a larger palette of 4096 colors to choose from but only 32 can be onscreen, which is more to choose but less onscreen than a Master System. Sega sure liked using the Z80 processors in a lot of their products. I was never able to afford the Ukrainian flash cart, but I'm considering the Chinese FlashGear GG Pro, but they are Russian enablers.

I recommend GG Aleste 2. I think it is a fair game which makes it quite fun. It does play like the Genesis and Master System games, but it is designed well for the small screen space of the portable.

Why cruel world?! It requires Windows 8.1 or later. Why do these games require such advanced system specs that I do not have?

Capacitors.

I had a TurboExpress as my first portable. The battery life was not much of a concern with the AC adapter. It was still portable enough for some road trip fun.

You should keep an eye out for leaking capacitors and persons who are willing to help solder. It is a tedious and laborious task so I'd advise saving up for such services. Sega games/systems aren't for many, as many here dislike their kinds of games, but for a few people like myself, there's a lot of fun to be had from them. If you're not one for Sega games, maybe fix it up for someone else to enjoy.

They are okay dungeon crawler games if you're into those. Simplistic for on-the-go, but I cannot judge them well since I don't really vibe with that style of game much. The visuals and general style do make them easier to tolerate than most others of its kind. Arle is still cute.

I liked it. If only there are people around here that can help me upgrade the screen to a modern one and replace the capacitors, or maybe consolize it, I would be very happy to play the games again. It uses the same plug as a Genesis 2, so batteries was not much of an issue back then.

If you already do not like it I would not suggest to get it. Otherwise it depends on your soldering skills or ability to get someone with the skills to do it for you. The PSG sounds are pretty harsh, and most people do not like Sega so it is a portable for very unique tastes. I like the Aleste games, Devilish, and Gunstar Heroes.

I thought it was the same, 32 colours onscreen, the difference was the palette choice was out of 4096 colors on the GameGear and only from 64 on the Master System. The possible palette colors on the GameGear was even greater than the 512 available on the Genesis.

I remembered I wanted the white GameGear which was shown off in EGM but was never able to find one. The Coke one is nice, it looks like the Rayearth one to me. I am sadly somewhat addicted to the cancer water, but I try to limit my intake, it is preferable to the alternative brands of cancer water.
