Now, of course I knew those two tommy gun guys were there already. I jumped across and I knew that the fanatic I jumped past wouldn't shoot me because of that jump. Had I ran instead across to that first fanatic I was shooting, the other guy would have shot me full of bullets.

It's no accident that I'm crouching and pivoting myself around the last fanatic either. In this game, you want to keep cultists rotating. As long as they're rotating, they won't shoot at you. When you're closer to them, going prone like that and pivoting before they've started shooting will make them rotate, too, rather than shoot at you, especially when they're on the floor like that.

Here is another example of exploiting that rotating factor up close. I posted this webm in that other thread:

At the 15 second mark I go in front of two cultists keeping myself angled to them and prone. This is not an accident. As you can see, instead of shooting at me they're turning their bodies instead giving me a chance to attack them. If you learn to incorporate this stuff into your gameplay you can do a lot more tricky shit that you can have fun with.
