There is this but it won't be good for PS2 since no stix, and they only make a version that has one single analog stick afaik

Don't listen to people who jerk off modern console pads that cost a testicle and a clit. Get a retro pad, or get one of these.

This will last you a couple years probably, it will eventually get all soft and gummy on you on the buttons you press the most, but that's life in 2023, everything is cheap shit designed to break and need replacing. I have Genesis gamepads from the early 90s that could double as melee weapons and still work just fine, but that is what it is.

What controllers do you use for retro emulation? For the last few years I've used one of these, it just died on me completely. As I understand it from lurking here, there doesn't seem to be any good consensus at all on which gamepads are good or bad, but I'm curious as to what you guys use and your thoughts, and specifically curious about what you think are the best for retro wired gamepads

This lasted me multiple years and its good but mine has finally had a couple buttons go mushy and I'm looking to replace it. 8bitdo seems like a good option but just as many people say it isn't so I'm so damn confused, probably just gonna get another Fighting Commander.

People constantly say this, but it doesn't have a fucking wire

ITT best pads for retro gaming. I begin with picrel, a pretty good controller

It seems this is the only truly good third party option and it doesn't have joysticks

This would be perfect if it had analog sticks, I can't find a single wired USB controller to replace it with so I guess it's still my reigning champ even though it can't handle non fighting shit beyond PS1

I made this thread like a week ago but life happened and I missed it. What are the best options for emulating with a gamepad that features analog sticks? I've been using this joker, lasted me about 5 years, but it's fucking up and it's time to get a new gamepad and I'd prefer something with sticks for playing games that use them

This thing is dying on me. What's the best USB gamepad that also has dual joysticks, and bonus points if it has a single piece concave D-pad like pic related? Also, post favorites

I use this, lasted a few years before any problems rearing, and the one problem that did is that one of the buttons has gone soft....it's still usable, just irritating. The dpad is great, most comfortable one I've ever used.

I'm looking to find a good option that has analog sticks, but a still a good dpad, and is wired.

Ding ding ding, we have the correct responses. It's all about it being one piece, and having a concave dip for maximum comfort. Thusly, pic related is good as well.

This served me well for about five years before one single button became mushy, and is still serving me decent enough despite that but it's about time to get a new one and put this away as a "second player controller"

I'm looking to get something that has as good of a d pad as this but with analog sticks.

I had one of those for years but the D pad broke after probably around 5 years

I've used this one for about five years since then, great D pad, but the triangle button has gone soft, which really ruins playing fighting games ironically enough and I'm sure the other buttons will at some time soon enough as well. Is there any controller where the contacts won't get fucked and limp or melt away or whatever the hell happens when they lose friction?

The problem with the PS controllers is the shitty D pad that makes fighting games and other control heavy games a pain in the ass

This controller is pretty good, no analog is a hinderence though for some 3d games, and I had mine about 6 years or so, and this year one of the surface buttons has gone soft, still works, but it's gone soft

How much coin?

I have one of these, when it dies, I might buy another or buy the one you posted instead to switch things up

Use this or something with a similar D-Pad

PS style ones are going to murder your fucking thumb from all the constant grinding on it you need to do for wall jumps and dashing

Here's a list of arcade sticks I've owned over the years:
>PSX Namco
>Dreamcast Green Goblin
>Full-size MAS
>HRAP 2
>HRAP 3
>15th Anniversary (modded with real parts)
>Madcatz TE1
>Madcatz TE2
>Madcatz Fight Pro

Why am I telling you all of this? Because after 15 years of playing fighting games, the only fighting game peripheral I still own is pic related.

I used one of those for a long time, I was not a huge fan of the d pad but it lasted me like 5 years or so so I can't say it's bad at all

Though, mine eventually broke (the d pad specifically just like stopped working), I bought this and it's served me well since then. Obviously this would be ideal for 2D games and fighters, not much use for it if you play a lot of games that involve analog sticks
