Never got why they chose a winter themed artwork. Probably because it got the hero in a action pose. But still odd.

In my opinion, yes. If only it were a 3D game released during the 5th generation, it would have been better remembered, even more than FF7.

CT excels at giving the player a varied selection of characters that are atractive even if you ignore the stories around them. The environments are diverse and short, which makes it impossible to feel bored while playing. JRPGs cannot solve the problem of making the combat irrelevant but they can make it entertaining, and centainly CT had a great system by making the enemy characters move and allowing the player to attack with several chars at the same time. The music is fantastic, the art is one of the best of the system.

Unlike FF7, it wasn't one of the first games of its gen but it was one of the best executions the snes saw. And even if you prefer FF7 over CT, you must concede CT was designed to have a wider appeal by having a simpler story filled with jumps, smaller map that managed to look bigger thanks to the time mechanics, and more memorable characters thanks to how they look. These might not be the things you are looking for in a jrpg, but definitely they are what makes a game more popular.

Just started Chrono Trigger for the first time. Loving the music and the gameplay. I just got Robo and I'm back in the past.
