I think there's always been about the same proportion of girls who legitimately like video games to ones who mainly use it as an affectation it's just that gaming in general blew up so much where you used to know 1 real girl gamer and 5 fakes now it's 5 real gamers and 25 fakes which seems worse but isn't really.
