Component is YPbPr, RGsB is RGsB.
Both just happen to carry sync information on the green color coded wire. In the case of component, this is luma; With RGsB, it's actually Green.

If you're getting RGB from the PS2, 240p/480i stuff is going to be sent via RGBS, with S being either composite video or luma depending on the cable. You don't need any sort of Extron or otherwise in order to connect it to the 1080, only the proper cable.

If you go the SCART route due to simplicity, you'll need a cable that takes pins 7, 11, 15, and 20 and connects them to pin 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the 1080's DE-9. Additionally, you'll need pins 2 and 6 on the SCART end broken out for audio, as well as at least one ground on each end, preferably more.

Alternatively, you could get a third party PS2/PS2 Component cable that ALSO has a composite lead on it, and use that for RGBS. From there, a DE-9 to 4 RCA, similar in construction to >>3362594 would work, though that may need to be custom made to have the right pinout.

Why does everything look so wide? Are you stretching stuff to 16:9 or something?

Photo, or more likely video would help in showing what you mean.

If you have some way to check continuity (multi meter or something) check and make sure everything is hooked up correctly.
