seahorses need perfect water parameters
which normally isnt a big deal, but they disintegrate their food in their snouts "snick" and blow debris all over the tank
they are easily outcompeted for food so they need their own separate setup
also they must be fed 2-3 times daily or they will starve


i ended up getting even more later (dwarfs)
they change color and are absolutely amazing in person but hatching live food daily was a lot of work - and i could never go on vacation or leave town because normies would kill them.


tlrd; just get a clownfish or Pseudochromis/orchid dottyback
way hardier and actually friendly towards humans

my gf was so sad when we lost our seahorses
in all fairness they were juveniles and SO tiny
(legitimate aquarium chiller recommended)
they made it 3 months & only accepted live food
