You are right. Basically:
>Dungeon design replaced in favor of walkway design
>Easier than early installments
>Focus on characters instead of world. Is more important to understand the motifs that fuel every character than questing and solving issues that appear in the middle of the epic journey.
>Characters closer to the teenager mind than the warrior/hero, makes them more relatable to the player. Consequence: more comedy than previous FFs.
>World loses its medieval setting to give more space to different aesthetics.
