I have an RSI cant use a mouse anymore, but i love half life. bought it on PS2 and it has this annoying auto-aim i can't turn off that literally locks on to friendlies and makes me shoot them when i meant to shoot an enemy, or shoots some random enemy which isnt the one i wanted to shoot thats right in front of me instead it chooses one enemy at the back im not fighting yet - anyways, is there a way to remove the auto aim from the PS2 port using the console commands?

i tried XASH3D, and that has controller support but theres a problem with joystick drifting, the right analog constantly drifts to the right when im playing, making it more uncomfortable than using a mouse with the fucking RSI

My last solution seems to be Half-Life Source. How does the source engine handle controllers? good?

i know source engine games have controller options, but i dont know if they're accurate or too sensitive or have shit deadzones or any shit like that will make playing it into hell

Has anyone played any valve games with controller using the ports available on steam? how did it work out for you? any issues with setup, deadzones, lack of deadzone creating retardedly high sensitivity? cheers

I'll ask next thread too since we're at the bitter end, but are there any PWAD style mods for Half-Life 1 besides Brutal Half-Life and Expanded Arsenal? Both of these aren't very good, and 99% of HL1 mods are their own story and mapsets. I just want some gameplay enhancements for the campaign.

Half-Life's level design was a major downgrade from other FPS before it. It takes place in Black Mesa, this massive facility, but since it's completely linear, it doesn't take any advantage of that like Hexen, Strife and System Shock did with their hub worlds. At the same time, Half-Life also lacks the variety other FPS like Duke Nukem and Blood had with their unique self-contained levels, nor does it have something like Unreal's epic journey across an alien planet, or Deus Ex's globe-trotting conspiracy chase. It's the worst of both worlds.

Can you please recommend me some nice/good/crazy HL mods? Just finished Black Mesa and replayed Blue Shift, which made me horny for some unpolished fan creations again but I don't know exactly what mods are worth playing.

As of yesterday I have beaten half-life 1 and soon I will go on to its sequel. So far half-life 1 kinda still holds up as one of the best games of the 90s and beyond. What are your thoughts /vr/? and please ask me anything of what I thought of this master piece.
