3 is amazing, especially with all three scenarios. They're all translated now. CD is based on the Game Gear games. First two parts of it are remakes of Gaiden 1 and 2, and then it has two short original parts which are sequels to those. It's good, but it's all battles without exploration.

Shining in the Darkness and Shining the Holy Ark are great too if you want dungeon crawlers.
