Valiant map31 is really good. Maybe its length makes it stand out compared to the short Scythe-like maps of episodes 1 or 2. The map isn't difficult to navigate although it is more cryptic than the other maps so it's not a good example of how good skillsaw is at conveying where to go next, but it's a good example of Valiant's combat (although it IS a slaughtermap): lots of rockets, shells, health, armor, and most of all, lots of enemies. There also is an unforgettable platforming section where your jumping onto a platform triggers the next platform to lower, but each platform you land on contains progressively more and tougher enemies, and each next step also opens monster closets with cacoclouds, with a climactic final fight while you scramble to get off. Your given an invulnerability beforehand but it doesn't last all the way through.

Valiant is the funnest 32-level-megawad I've played so far. The levels are generally short Scythe-like levels that are a good challenge and balanced around pistol-starts, but the level design really shines IMO when doing single-segment runs of entire short episodes because the design flows so well and encourages aggressive kill-crazy rampages by giving you lots of ammo, lots of health, lots of enemies, and secrets to help the 100%'er. Also the pyroknight is the funnest enemy to fight that I've come across

>(have to use eternity engine)
I never used Eternity and this post made me wonder why skillsaw would use ZDoom- and Eternity-exclusive features in his MBF maps. I'm trying Eternity right now and so far it seems like a good strong limit removing port. It seems the only reason PrBoom+ eclipsed everything else in terms of popularity is its ability to replicate the behaviors of different engines with simple command line parameters.
