I finally took the pistol start no-saves pill because I'm getting sick of my shitty playing and man, even just this evening alone has improved my skills significantly. I think getting sick of a level's layout and music after the fifth attempt is truly the best motivator, there's no greater high in Doom for me than beating the last third of a particularly challenging level with only a sliver of health left.
