Been on a Centipede kick lately. Not very good but the high score is only 50k so I feel like I have a chance. Also fuck those spiders.

>Please tell us a story!
Sit down you little shit and I'll tell you a tale from the long ago time of the early 90s. I was about the age of 6 wandering around the county fair by myself(parents weren't pussies back then and let us explore) when I came across a tent full of arcade games. Needless to say that shit was magical. Didn't have any money but that didn't stop me from watching other people play. Saw a man working on a game and I started asking him questions about what he was doing. After about 10 minutes he gave me a dollar to go away which I promptly blew on Toki. Now go in the kitchen and tell your aunt I'm ready for another cold one.

Lots of people especially dealers like to throw insane numbers up because normies who want a game for their rumpus room don't know any better
>talking about buying the original cabinet and all.
Same. Only one I could see fetching 3k out of the ones you mentioned would be Outrun but only a pristine deluxe sit down. SF2, KoF, and upright Outruns are easily less than 1k.
>know better places
Yeah, anywhere but Google kek join some arcade forums and collector groups. You still see people throw insane prices from time to time to see what sticks but most everyone calls them out for being greedy pricks.

>Any reason you didn't play anything?
I was there early morning before they were open buying some arcade parts from the owner Doc. Very nice guy. After a tour he offered to turn on any game I wanted to play but I had to get back home for a wedding and was short on time. Was planning a trip this year but the Kung Flu fucked that up.

>Why are arcades still dead, /vr/?
As others have mentioned the traditional arcade model is dead. It's only sustainable as a gimmick to get you in to buy beer. All that being said, arcade hobbyists are very alive and well.
