/vr/ - Retro Games

Is this "game" a joke? and the gameplay is mostly going from point A to point B.

it came bundled with my ps1 and i had no idea what i was doing or what even the story was

The only "new" /vr/ game I played this year was MGS because I finally got an original Playstation. God damn is it good.

For better or for worse, is this the single most influential retro game ever made? It defined the in-game cinematic heavy style used by every game today and set a new standard for voice acting in games.

So I just started playing this classic. My brother had 2, 3 and 4 back in the day and I played them all for a bit, but for some reason I only made it about 30m~1hr into each game before getting bored and never picking them back up. I grabbed this on a whim the other day and I'm now 3 hours deep and loving every minute. Is MGS1 just a vastly better game than the later entries, or did I just not give the other games a proper chance? Something about the atmosphere, dialogue and story in this game just feels so much better than what I've played of the others, and that obviously isn't nostalgia talking.
