UK anons, what do I need to buy to plug my NTSC Psone plug into our socket? A Step down converter?

So I'm hoping one of you guys can help me or at least point me in the right direction.
I have a PSOne sitting in a box for years now.
I got it from a guy and it never worked.
Plugged it in and the power light goes on but that's about it.
No A/V and no disk drive movement.

Upon a recent further inspection I've noticed the power adapter for the damn thing is actually one from a PSP (it outputs 5v instead of 7.5)

My questions are as follow.
Would getting a correct power supply fix my other issue?
If not do you have any idea what could be causing it?

And no, I don't want to throw it away.

Hey guys, a cousin is coming over this weekend and said he wanted to play some games. What are some great multiplayer games we could try out on this little white machine? Any genre is welcome.

Yeah the PSX DVR existed over in Japan but that thing flopped hard, and PSX has been in use since the 90s.

This is a PSone, it was release like 5 years later as a revision

Saw a PSone in pretty good condition at McKay's yesterday. Any reason to own one when my PS3 can play all the games for it?
