Mechaniloid was a Japanese term that didn't made the jump overseas until X6, but it refers to robots with very basic AI that only take on functions without any semblance of a personality like a Robot Master, let alone actual free will like Reploids or Carbons.Remember the bipedal walkers from X1? The ones fropped from the Bee Choppers in the intro stage, or the general mechanical-looking enemies. They're Mechaniloids. However, mechaniloids are not exempt from going Maverick via viral infection, since the term became an in-universe buzzword enforced by the government that merely means "malfunctioning machine", as reploids are still enforced a "perfectly safe", because despite all the wars caused by them, in-universe they still save millions of Zenny in labor work.

At some point it became a problem that these free willed machines with no moral compass were just born one day and go "This is your name, your job and your weapon, now go out into the world" became an issue so reploids began getting created in child-like bodies and taken into educational courses with human children in an attempt to give reploids a proper moral compass like X's and to have both man and machines integrated into a single society prior to X's sacrifice. Andrew, the elderly reploid man, used to be a teacher before becoming a baker on one of such schools.

Rather than pointless it becomes a warning on hedonism and the risks of letting machines handle everything. The ultimate example of this is The Master at the dead-end of the timeline, seeing how their artificial people were more human than the last real human, by living their limited lives, in spite of all the suffering that comes with mortality and promptly an heroes himself after thousands of years.

Rather than pointless, it was an escalation based on ill-fated good intentions and the road to hell paved by them, and the falling out between two friends. Even if you remove Zero and ZX, everything will be doomed. Legends 2 already shows the world is flooded and filled with craters everywhere, the Zero and ZX games simply fill the gap on how it got that bad. (Z4's epilogue explaining there's over 200 more military grade satellite cannons part of the Ragnarok series dormant, orbiting Earth and the Game of Destiny having flooding as one of it's potential outcomes).

It's really not "what you want" anon, it's what it is.

>They're essentially kids
and that's exactly why the "child reploid" thing was put into place, hence Alouette.

>And when I make mistake, I actually mean it, the manual and story lore for X1 makes absolutely no sense coming after Classic unless you do make up some stupid event that makes it so it practically doesn't matter.
>
>Oh, you know, all the robot masters were banned with apparently no trace, AND zero killed everyone, AND Light works on X behind everyone's back in secret, AND Zero by Wily, so on so on.

Okay this is too stupid, I need to address shit.

1) The X1 manual was written by CoA and shouldn't be taken at face value, you're better off just reading Japanese sources like Compendium of Rockman X
2) Zero didn't kill jackshit, he never got even finished FFS. "Zero kills everyone" was made up by Dave Anez just for his Bob and George webcomic, I can't believe it's 2022 and people keep spewing this Cataclysm bullshit.
3) Dr. Light's work always was heading towards X, he wanted robots with true free will to work side by side with humanity. Rock was close to it but still wonder under a prime directive. Him and Wily were friends for this goal originally.
4) Zero and ZX were always aiming towards Legends. The fact the Zero 4 epilogue, Eden's dome, mentions there's over 200 more Military-grade satellite cannons like the Ragnarok were to foreshadow why the world map in MML2 has so many perfectly circular craters.

Hey, Dr. Light's work meant humanity ultimately goes extinct but for a brief window of time humanity got robot waifus to fuck.
And in the end, isn't that everlasting peace?

I'm not joking when I say the key factor here is Dr. Light's sex life. Classic Light remained single and began doing his work on robots with free will as partners for humans, "for the sake of humanity", while BN Dr. Light (Tadashi Hikari) had a child around 198X when he was still doing his doctorate at the RIT and pitcked network research "for our children and the future".

Wily and Light in BN however still became friends during their youth, Wily saw potential on Light's network and theorical "SoulNet" (which Lan would later complete as the BrotherBand system) to aid the dream of robots being something more than tools to be used.

However, late on their college years, the government had to make a decision to fund just one research, and they shut down Wily's robot research, finding Light's Network research more cost-effective and feasable.

MM9 created the context of how robots with limited free will can already be coerced and manipulated into harming others without a moral compass to guide them.

MM10 introduced the computer virus that would terrorize the world, a test run for an earlier version of the Maverick Virus, if you will. Data retrieval and further manipulation. If Wily's project of a robot already carrying a virus, even if Zero was defeated, everyone around him would get involved, therefore, he'd win anyway.

MM10 wasn't a failure, but a precious experiment for data at a global scale. And it also got Dr. Light working on proper anti-viral measures for X early on.

Inti are lorefags to the max, even now on their solo Gunvolt and iX games, as well as Blaster Master Zero (despite being a sunsoft IP) they go balls deep into lorefagging.

>"Because robots' power is so great, we must give them an even greater responsability, and I believe to achieve that would be by giving robots a 'soul'."
Posting Hitoshi Ariga's sketched version of this.

I guess at face value it sounds silly but here's an old drawing by Hitoshi Ariga (artist behind Rockman Megamix and the original box art for SNES Mega Man & Bass) on the concept. I think it's cool how he executed it here.
