Ill give you the CD version of 2, I still love the PS1 version but holy fuck does CD EB hold up amazingly. For 1 though I have to give it to the remake. CD SS is a great game but it's really lightweight in a lot of regards. Hell just having Luna tag a long more alone is a huge improvement to the story

House hold name by what standards? Well, assuming and please forgive the assumption your a complete neophyte but go play the Lunar Silve Star and Eternal Blue. Either Sega CD or PS1. And only on the SCD or PS1. Well Saturn works but Im guessing you don't speak Japanese.

Play both SCD and PS1 version. They both have their strengths and you'll get more out of it by playing both.

Though if you're dead set on playing just one Id vote PS1. The SCD version is great but hasn't aged quite as well as Eternal Blue CD, which arguably holds up better than it's remake. Though you should also play both in that regard as well.

We got a lot of SCD purists and they're not really WRONG but the PS1 versions of both games are very good and on par if not better in some areas. The reverse is also true.
