This is wrong. The best subcarrier waveform for any video encoder is a perfect sine above 0.2Vpp of the minimum amplitude that is defined in the datasheet.
This reduces amount of upper sidebands in the chroma signal to nothing (as a perfect sine doesn't contain upper sidebands), some Y/C separation circuits have serious trouble with upper sidebands as they remove the chroma signal from composite by remodulating it as a sine and subtracting that from the composite signal, which will look horrible (like a unshielded S-Video cable) if it contains upper sidebands.

The older SNES feeds it's video encoder two sinewaves (one is phaseshifted as the encoder is very primitive and needs that), the filter that produces these waves is the only circuit in the SNES that uses a inductor (L1, there's no L2 or or higher).

I have my own filter circuit (the lower one that produces a sine) that I used for CXA1645 workalikes like the CXA2075 and KA2198BD, before that I used a simple RC lowpass (the upper one that produces a triangle) and got bad looking signals on anything that digitizes video signals (USB video grabber, modern TVs and little 320x240 TFT screen). On old CRT TVs with proper filter circuits it didn't made a difference.

Yes, wear rubber gloves while doing that. Also not all yokes can be moved, the ones on my consumer 90s Trinitrons can't.
