I have mulled the conditions of this thread for the past few hours. I think I have come to my final decision:

Nintendo 64 system:
- Ogre Battle 64
- NBA Hangtime
- Goldeneye 007

I think this is a great mix of content, and I think within 8-10 years I will have gone totally insane, but I think that is inevitable no matter your system and game choice.

>Super Mario Brothers 2 in the USA was different then SMB2. SMB2 in the USA was some other thing "Doku panic" or something. You have hours of reading ahead of you
Samefag here. Ignore this thread. I misunderstood the whole conversation.

>The poor creatures have no idea how markets work, so obviously
I got my younger brother into "retro" slowly. He grew up like me with an NES & later a n64 (No transition system). He recently picked up a N64, and plugged it into his LCD tv......He commented that I was right about CRT, and instantly craigslisted a very nice 4:3 XBR Sony.

Now he has a small collection of retro systems, and this is in the last few weeks....and his friends are interested now too with a few of them committed to getting some sort of hipster setups.

These people don't fucking know who Metal Jesus is, and I barely do only because of /vr/.

I think this is a somewhat normal market for vintage/antique/nostalgia involving childhood toys (either yours or someone elses).

Get smart people, and get flash carts or other methods to enjoy your software. Hardware will continue to go up in price also. You aren't going to make retirement money, but now is a great time to buy at yard sales and clean/test/save for the future.

NBA Hangtime still freezes the instant the ball is tipped?

>Can't wait for the shitfest this place will be by that time
I will make 1-2 posts, and after that I will bounce. Personally, the Dreamcast should not belong here at all. My opinion on "retro" does not involve something as futuristic as that. But, as others said Allowing the N64 & the PSX opened the door to 3d systems being "retro".

At one point I put out a brief post requesting a forum for "Late-model" non-vr systems for the generations not in /vr/ and too old for /v/ to care about....Post was deleted pretty quickly. It was polite and non-spergy. I got the message.

Once a system started acting like a custom PC, it really doesn't seem retro.

>A specific set of years were chosen, "retro"
Spoken much better then I could, and with many less words.

Hardly. I will break it down quickly. I prefer to treat manchildren the same as regular children. Shut them down fully and quickly or else they cry and whine. Me moving quickly to silence them gives us all more time to act like adults.
