OP once again to deliver the goods, we've had a lot of new titles making the list, as a lot of them had 4 (You)s and were just missing that last one, a lot of Sonic titles got in at the same time too, I think this might be the top 100 with most Sonic installments ever, which is quite cool to see too.

1. Duke Nukem 3D
2. Jet Set Willy
3. Floigan Bros. Episode 1
4. Dual Orb II
5. Pokémon Red/Green/Blue
6. EarthBound
7. The Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure (GBC)
8. Bebe's Kids
9. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing!
10. Freddi Fish 3: The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell
11. Alvin and the Chipmunks
12. Thief: The Dark Project
13. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TIme
14. Silent Hill
15. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
16. Chuckie Egg
17. Galaga
18. Skies of Arcadia
19. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos
20. Sonic Blast
21. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
22. The Flowers of Robert Mapplethorpe
23. Metal Slug X
24. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Master System)
25. Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories
26. Joust
27. System Shock 2
28. King's Field
29. Metal Gear Solid
30. Tetris (NES)
31. Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams
32. Ultima Underworld
33. Sonic Adventure
34. Star Control 2
35. Final Fantasy 7
36. Unreal Tournament 2004
37. Tetris (GB)
38. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
39. Dragon Quest 3
40. Monster World 4
41. Sonic the Hedgehog
42. Sonic Adventure 2
43. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
44. Sonic the Hedgehog: Pocket Adventure

At this point it becomes harder to manage what's gotten in recently and what was already there, so if I repeated, or missed, any titles with 5 (You)s in here then make sure to let me know, I'll correct it as soon as possible. If this keeps up we might get a finished list by the end of the next thread! Nice.

I'm almost 25 and I'm the same.

I just replay what I grew up with over and over... so that probably doesn't help.

Indeed, I also used the filters and scanlines that KEGA Fusion offered and liked the result on my laptop, with that 1366x768 resolution most still have even today, and I liked it, it works just fine.

Of course 4K and even 8K if you have access to it will make it look better... but not a requirement.

>If you didn't beat the actual real copy of the game on original hardware on a CRT during the 1980s or 1990s without losing a life with the most non casual playstyle, you didn't beat the game and you never will.
Well, you see... this is the main issue with the whole "If you didn't do ___, and if you did ___, then you didn't REALLY beat it..." is that there's no end to it, where do we draw the line? There's no objective answer, so it sucks.

What are some good looking and/or accurate CRT shaders for lower end laptops or tablets? What I'm talking about is stuff like 4GB RAM maximum, and a a quad-core processor, or an octa-core one with the strongest cores being around 2,4GHz, also average/weaker chipsets.

Also, we're talking 11' to 13' screens without something like 4K, so 1080p at the very best.

This.
I genuinely adore video games that I can see ar not very good when trying to look at them with no bias involved, while there are some I can see are classics, and why they're beloved, but they don't click with me for whatever reason, it's odd.

Well, us all having such different preferences and discussing it all is what makes it fun though.

Has there ever been some sort of explanation for this? As in, did any of the developers ever come forward, or were interviewed, and explained it? It still baffles me how this went through.

Well, it depends, since you're using standalone emulators then naturally that'll depend on each emulator and how they handle shaders, mGBA is pretty much just like RetroArch for it's LCD ones, though I found RetroArch easier to switch between them to choose which one I wanted, the UI was just better for me, though I know many might disagree... it'll depend on the emulator.

Still, just asking, why is it that you don't want to use RetroArch? I started using it a few months ago, got the cores of the standalone emulators I used and it's been quite seamless for me so far.

We used to do this thing called "git gud" and it worked out, I definitely recommend it, OP... so, jokes aside that's what we really did, we often had a few cartridges anyways, and these titles were made with this arcade philosophy of this real grind to them... but trust me, it's really so satisfying when you pull it off, they're usually short titles anyways, and it's so fun to see how we've improved when a video game that felt a little too impossible is suddently a 15 run we'll do with our eyes closed, it's part of the fun. I'd keep trying if I were you, it'll be truly worth it.
