I actually was able to prank a few purist friends who REFUSE to play on anything but CRT and "Don't understand how anyone can tolerate how imprecise all emulation is" by having my PC running retroarch with run-ahead enabled and hooked up to a CRT on the other side of the room. I snaked the cables behind my entertainment center and had my SNES turned on and ready to go when they walked in the room so it appeared to be what I was was playing at the time. To really sell it I tucked the controller wires back behind it and had very convincing USB controllers coming out from behind which were actually plugged into my computer with extension cables. We all love to play Vs. fighters all of the time so it was easy to rope both of them into a quick tournament.

I was considering filming it with a hidden camera it but I felt like it would have been too embarrassing for either of them if it went gone viral so I ultimately decided not to. The one I played against actually kicked my ass real good so I said "great game dude" and then turned the snes off but the image was still there on the screen. I actually had to show them, step by step how I fooled them and neither one of them believed it at first thinking it was a double trick and they ACTUALLY WERE playing a real SNES the whole time. We had a good chuckle about it at first but one of them was a giant aspie A-hole about it a few days later so I'm glad we don't talk anymore. He owns (used to maybe?) a small retro gaming store and gave me this big butthurt lecture afterwards because he thinks casual emulation should be a state crime and prosecuted like shoplifting. He doesn't even think software fair use should even exist, that any copy of anything is a crime so he can fuck right off.

I think I proved my point very well to both of them that just like every active technology something better will eventually come along and it cant be stopped. Me and the one friend finally play the PC port of smash brawl over lan as god intended.

>Retroarch is for when you have an emulator set up fetish

While I do HAVE A FETISH FOR SETTING UP DEDICATED EMULATOR MACHINES I try and spend some time each week to enjoy them. I like the "random game" button on Launchbox.

>and don't actually want to play games and by proxy probably aren't even any good at them.
Some Retro games have a lot of flaws and barriers for entry if you don't have any nostalgia for them.
>game has cryptic mechanics no one would know about about unless you're an ultra fanboy who collects gaming magazines from that era and happened to tell some underage weeb who slightly misremembered the information and put it in a half finished gamefaqs txt file
>Game is still an endless parade of ass rape of cheap one hit deaths that only takes 20 minutes to beat if you know exactly where to stand

HOW do you play your games? I want to know your game playing habits so I don't feel as bad about mine.

Do you only play one game at a time until you beat it rr do you play multiple games at a time and switch between them frequently?

Do you play at a certain time of day or just whenever you have time?

I play an hour or so first thing right after breakfast, a few hours right when I get home from work and then a few on my handheld right before bed if I'm not too sleepy. Overall I spend about 4-5 hours a day on gaming, full time job, wife but no kids.

>is snes crap on PSP
its as good as its going to get on regular PSP's. game library is about 60% playable, very subtle stutter and screen tearing in most games.

>I keep hearing n3DS is the current portable emulation king.
That honor would go to the GPD+, the Nvidia shield (if you can find one) or a Modded switch but for the price point and battery life 3DS is great.

Yup, got lucky and got a lifetime licence last year for $30 on a black friday sale.
> it needs to be optimized
