joust kicks ass. it's got a much different, albeit more primitive, sense of inertia that sets it apart from the arcade version

You'll find more gameplay in Joust than you would expect. Damn good game, especially if you try to improve your high scores. I generally don't care about scores at all, but it really adds a new dimension to the game.

This.

Also pic related is my favorite one screen game, and also my favorite game. The physics are just so dead on, especially on the arcade machine with those Williams leaf switches.

Joust (1982) if we're not counting pinball machines as games and Paragon (1979) if we are. They're definitely rough by today's standards, but I'm happy to support them as some of the best games ever made. Joust's gameplay is frantic and timeless; pterodactyl kills are additionally an early example of the "tough-but-rewarding" cool tech I appreciate in games. On the other hand, Paragon utilizes its playfield space in a way few pinball games do today, where everything has a purpose.

It's really no different than classic cars. I would love to be able to go out a buy a 79 Ford Mustang for 5,000$ in running condition and restore it. But that's not gonna happen. Everybody is a "I know what I've got" type of person just like with game collecting everybody is a "well on eBay it's listed for ..." type of person.

You missed the boat and we are trying to warn you. When I started collecting for SNES in 2001 I got Super Mario world all day long for 5$ and the 'good' RPG games were 15-40$ depending on where you bought it. You could still find Final Fantasy at a garage sale for 5$.

With todays prices I would never get into collecting. I would never pay 100+$ for a classic RPG in bad condition. I wouldn't pay 50$ for Yoshi's Island or Mario World. You CAN if you want but it's not worth it anymore. My advice is to buy an SD2SNES Flashcart and enjoy every game without swapping carts (my collection is in bins in my closet now).

Normal fags dont give a fuck. Theyll just call you an autist, or a nerd. Yes a nerd, as much as being "nerdy" is trendy, they are just surface dwellers and will spout some scripted insult or talking point that totally makes you a loser to other sheep. I normaly dont care so much, but those retarded fucks are encroaching on the things i deeply care about. All that comes out of their mouths is regurgitated turds they ingested just to be considered cool by the popular fake nerds. Fucking fad bandwagoners blow double nutsacks.

Thanks!

I hope someone tops it so I can try for higher. I find that vertical space is the most important thing. Always try to be moving upward. It's a bit hard to explain, but you get a feel for rising just a bit faster than the AI. If you go too fast, they get really random, making it harder to predict their actions.

Be sure to use the ledges to your advantage. Use them to funnel them to their doom.

If you get killed and spawned on the bottom platform, you can just stand there. The enemies will try to kill you and you can flap up quickly. It's not an end all strategy, but it can help if you get into a bad place.

I think wave 3 has super aggressive enemies. They calm down a bit after that wave. I always make it a goal to not die in that wave. I think it's around this time you'll get a free life. I assume it was a trick by the programmers to eat quarters.

It also pays to watch patterns, how the enemies jam up and remain at around the same height, etc.

Sorry for the blog, just excited and trying to get some strategy talk going.
