I'm glad you made this thread, I was lookin for some advice. I've reached a point in retro collecting where the PCE has captured my interest. I enjoy shmups a lot and it seems like a good console to explore. I have a few questions though:

There seems to be a bunch of models and I don't know where to start. What is a good cheap starter console? I'm looking to spend less than $100 if possible on the console but I'm willing to go up to $200 if it's worth it.

Is the PC Engine reigon locked?

Will I be able to collect decent games for under $100?

Is there a controller I should get with my console?

What are some decent/cheap games I can pick up right away?

I literally just put in a rather conservative offer on a Core-Grafx to some glorious nippon eBay seller and they accepted within minutes.

I'm gonna buy a flashcart shortly. Anything I need to know about it? Mostly worried about the different voltages from japan and north america. Am I going to need something specific now? Or should it work out of the box.
