Yea I loved it too, kinda wish Team Rose either had missions like Chaotix, or was just absent from the game.
replaying the same levels over again with identical playing characters was a bit of a chore no matter how much fun it is to play, and the overall asethetic being so upbeat and streamlined
I will always like Adventure 1 the most because I am a sucker for hub worlds, but I will always cherish Heroes as well, so far it seems to be better than what I have experienced of Adventure 2 Battle

sonic adventure isn't a bad game at all, it is a fine transistion into 3D, there are secret power ups and level skips everywhere, it cleverly makes use out of the worlds with multiple characters and different varieties of gameplay (not too dissimilar to the OG titles) my favorite parts are the exploring the overworld, the hidden special chao were really cool, and so is the lite-metroidvania elements of gaining power ups

I like how instead of being booted from a stage and having to jump back in, Sonic Adventure uses the hub world as the sandbox by which you choose your next objective.
Imagine if SM64 took place not in Peach's Castle but in bob-omb battlefield, and whatever
I want knuckle's adventure, I know breath of the wild is essentially that, but it didn't have a satisfying macguffin hunt

not really, tails puts a (tail) spin on those same stages, and knuckles could easily have his own open world game but instead the edgelord shadow did
amy's stages are serviceable, robo's levels are neat as well, but big is probably the biggest offender in the game since his fishing segments aren't all that fun
I can only imagine there was a bit of a wow factor when it came out but.. yea the controls for it...

sonic is more than a high tech demo, it's the precursor for parkour /skateboard games, the first level of 1 is structured like a playground and your reward for understanding the mechanics and level layout is the speed you can maintain when replaying the game

2 took what 1 did so well with its first level and made every level like the first one, and it rewards your dedication to completing the bonus stages with more than just an extra end game card, but an entirely new method to play through the game and an additional final level to cap off the experience in an exciting way

don't even get me started on 3, &Knuckles, you guys need to go back to /v/ if you dislike sonic and fail to understand and appretiate the series
I bet you guys like mario, or worse, that you don't like it either

Because Metroidvania is fun, because taking what makes it fun into giant 3d worlds is cool. Banjo-Tooie is awesome because getting all ten jiggies in each world is an accomplishment you have to go out of your way to achieve.
