I've never seen a thread on this series before. Has anyone played all three of them and could give a run down of the series as a whole?

I played through the original and loved it when it came out. It felt really massive in scope for its time and I loved the branching paths for different endings. It just felt like a very rewarding and intense game, especially with the later stages.

I rented the second one but hated it because of its frustratingly higher difficulty and never played the third one.

This is a fucking crime that this game is so under the radar! I loved playing this during my childhood and I still do! It was a little dark compared to the games I've played but I loved it anyways. The story was interesting, the controls were pretty smooth, and the missions could be a challenge if you're not prepared (especially if you want the real ending). Yeah, there were also multiple endings, if you fuck up, the game tells you that YOU FUCKED UP.

Or that fucking stealing bitch of a monster on the 16th floor has just swiped your Wind Crystal after you pissed away everything feeding your shit to the monster that transforms all your things into rarer things... and now the floor is collapsing...
