>Outside of Japan yes. In Japan it did well and had far better third party than the N64.
it only did that well. people defending Saturn don't want to admit it, but VF2 was its biggest game by far that sold 2x as much as the closest game to it, Sega Rally (another very early Saturn game), which proves Saturn ran out of steam rather quickly. most of its best selling games were from 95-96, too.
N64 sold less consoles, but it had 10 games that sold over a million in Japan, when Saturn had only 1 (VF2).
Picrelated compares N64 game sales in Japan (left) to Saturn (right).

>Yeah and it had 4 that broke 500k that weren't VF.
>And 15 others that broke 300k that weren't VF.
>And 50 others that broke 100k that weren't VF.
that's not a "huge fanbase". it's smaller than PCE even. SFC had over 50 titles that sold over 300k.
not only that, it's clear that while N64 had sold about same number of consoles in Japan, people bought far more N64 games than Saturn ones. see picrelated, list with sales comparison (each number is 10,000 units).

you may have some point, but it's not as simple. basically, the top 20 or so games on n64 in Japan outsell the respective top 20 on Saturn roughly 2-3 times. this is pretty huge, considering N64 had slightly smaller install base than Saturn. but almost all of them are 1st parties. 3rd parties did far worse on it; exceptions are few, like Power Pro, Fushigi Dungeon or Bomberman. rest actually did worse than most 3rd party Saturn games.
then again, a lot of Saturn best sellers were from Sega too. out of 40 best selling games, over half were from Sega. I don't see you give Saturn shit for it. and as for the rest, they were anime games, dating sims and other weeb trash, with only few standouts like Street Fighter Zero which was on PS anyway. so much for those great 3rd party Saturn titles.
