She explains everything herself. She's not saying anything about joining the Reptites, that was never an option my reading-comprehension-challenged friend. She's saying that the humans are in for so much suffering in that ice age that they'll wish they were dead.

And to put it in your words, you're saying that Azala knows she can't win against the humans. so she picks a doomed fight with them and summons Lavos BEFORE actually losing said fight? For what purpose? What was her master plan here?
