Sounds like it’s pretty common for smaller consumer sets I guess
Mine has scan lines even on composite and it looks great still

I think you misunderstand, consumer CRT’s only display 480i and 240p is only rendering half the lines of 480i and yes it looks nice

Actually looking at it, it seems like it’s using either flicker or sprite limitations to get the effect, might be hard to see it but it’s there
