I remember I called Barret "Dr. Dre" and Aerith "GonnaDie" on my last playthrough, and got some funny lines out of it. Like there's a scene where Aerith calls Barret Mr. Barret, but with the new name it was Mr. Dr. Dre, and Barret's like "Mr. Dr. Dre? That don't sound right!" And later on, when talking to Hojo at Costa del Sol, Aerith says something like "I'm GonnaDie. The least you could do is remember my name."

I always use default names, but on FF7 I rename Aeris to Aerith.

I don't know about that. People remember the cgi scenes before and after this, but forget this section for obvious reasons.
