Ahh guess I misunderstood. But our positions remain about the same, those years gave me some awesome games the original Monster Hunter (maybe favorite game of all time) Wind Waker (favorite Zelda) MGS 2, MGS 3 (favorite MG by a lot) Zone of Enders 2 (just plain amazing) Okaimi. I'm not going to make another xboxhuge list but you get the idea. I don't really see any slumps or think gaming has ever really had a bad year.

The closest thing to a slump era to me is actually the start of 5th gen when all the consoles started going for 3D but couldn't really make it shine. Even still though there were a ton of amazing games, a lot of them just looked kinda janky.

I hated Skyrim though. Not that any of the Elder Scrolls were that good, but to me Skyrim is boring as fuck. I am however genuinely happy that it exists out there in the world for all the people who do like it and what it brings to the table.

That's just a small part of what's so great, the variety.

This. Different people just enjoy different things, not everyone is going to like games like Alien Soldier, but games like that are among my favorite of all time.

Worse than blackjack is a tall order, that's a game that has ruined many many lives and most casinos do not know (or care) when to stop. But if it's that horrible I think that's all even more reason to steer completely clear of games of that nature. Personally I'm glad I don't even know the name of the games you're talking about.

With so many other amazing games in the world today there's really no reason at all to give shit like that so much as the time of day.

This is what people who only look at the top 10 most popular games actually think. There are still difficult and challenging games, but the market is a lot broader than it once was so you have to look more carefully.

I've always been a hardcore leaning gamer and I think these days are better than ever for gaming. I know you won't believe me and just want to be angry and upset though so I'll just leave you to your bitching thread.

Whew game journalists are stupid sometimes.

I don't think hard games are easier now than they used to be. The difference is that in the retro era most games tended towards being hard, whereas now there are a lot of easy/casual games as well so it can look like they're easier on the whole.

I never get tired of how butthurt you are over it. I love DLC and think it's overall a good thing. But then I also like the way the industry in general is going.

It's your stupidity for assuming that I equate fun with easy. I find a game that doesn't put up a challenge extremely boring. It's the hard games with a lot of strategy that I find fun enough to master. Ecco kicked my ass for like two years, but that's a lot of what I loved about it.

It sounds like you're the one that only finds easy things fun. But you think there's some merit in "getting good" at a game, so you force yourself to play until you're "good" and then convince yourself it's been fun.

No one is disputing that. That's the point, we're not playing it to improve or master the game. Just playing it like a toy to get through. And if that bothers you for some reason, you have mental problems.

There are games I like enough to actually master them, but 95% of them aren't worth that much time.

There is really almost no examples of DLC that's required or really necessary in any way. Also many games have online with no paywall.

Monster Hunter is a modern game, it has DLC all of which is free and online play which is also free.
