Practice a lot, keep your eye on the hitbox, and play the game in slow motion, then speed the footage back up.

rRootage is a good "babby's first bullet hell" game, since it has modes mimicking other shmups (one of them is actually based off Giga Wing) and there's a huge range in difficulty.
