I just removed the RF modulator, and a panel mount jack I bought on digikey fit the hole pretty perfectly.

Removing the modulator also removes a source of noise.

ah, cool.
I appreciate peoples' reluctance to do this to their systems; I don't particularly love doing it either. But it does simplify things immensely on my end and I also get used to it pretty quickly.
When I last modded a console for someone else I took a much less invasive approach, especially since he only wanted s-video added.

He's not me.

I did visibly ruin a famicom once and felt terrible about it. My second attempt where I replaced the RF modulator board doesn't have any holes drilled at all. Also I don't think he's thick - he probably just doesn't like the thought of drilling the holes. I was hesitant, but once I did it I was VERY glad I had done it.

If you don't want to drill holes, it'd be simple enough to replace the RF modulator on a SNES or genesis with a 6-pin mini-DIN (or 7, 8, or 9 pin) and use that for video out without drilling holes. That kinda forces you to make a breakout cable, but at least it's a standard connector that's harder to find unpopulated than populated.

Thanks for the support in any event. same for >>3319949 .

Cool. I'll experiment with it myself when I have finished this Mega Amp mod I'm working on for a genesis I'm selling on ebay.

Looks pretty good so far (just S-video modded). Much less likely to offend anyone like my personal system would (RCA jacks drilled in the back).

I know this is a bad place to ask, but what does /vr/ think? Would people pay more for it if I put some RCA jacks on the back for stereo audio and composite video so you didn't need a special cable?
