Here's a "behind the scenes" of my upcoming Quake 2-map for the Remaster. I really like to make indoors and outdoors cohesive, so that the base becomes a little bit more believable, and can function without the player's presence. This also helps make it feel less like a series of MacGuffins and more like something a little bit more grounded in reality.
If it wasn't for the old engine that I respect so much, I'd go more Quake 2 Remaster-missionpak on this and actually connected everything around in the outdoors-area with the indoors, instead of segmenting them off like I am doing. However, enemy behaviour and line of sight is a big limitation, and I'd rather let the AI do its thing within proper boundaries than impose vastly different arenas than the AI was meant to work with.
