That might be beyond the capabilities of my phone. I just get dark areas next to overblown areas of the screen and it can look like the same kind of blur from modern panels. The hand-me-down TV I managed to keep doesn't have component but it does still have S-Video. I was hoping to add an RGB option to the set, since I've used RGB from the old days but for the few consoles I have that only does S-video like the 3DO or WonderMega it could be an option.

I would rather the work be done by a professional. In addition, the set I want RGB modded doesn't appear to have any documentation since it is not a popular brand. Besides, I have a lot of electronics work I'd like done beyond just CRT modding, so there's a lot that I will have to learn which I'd rather invest in some help, it's how I hope to keep the economy going. Also as mentioned, I do believe it is dangerous work so I understand the higher rate for the specialization requires.

One is on my computer desk, the other in the closet. Hoping to preserve this one, while someone else helps me repair the active one.

Those I got for this very day where my primary computer CRT monitor is dead. I was hoping modern displays have developed enough for no input lag, high refresh, great colors, and an affordable price. I have held onto my CRT monitors I got long ago and was unable to afford any new monitors. However, the dreaded day has come and my daily driver monitor has problems which no one in my area even wants to fix. So those devices should work well for non-CRT screens (except for the XRGB2, I used that back in the early 90s to play console games on my computer monitor, as that's all I had for screens).

I don't think they make those anymore. It was just Panasonic and Pioneer that had plasma sets and I think both went away. My local pawn shop had a small 720P set, but it did not have the thickness I'd expect a plasma to have, and it is now gone with only 1080p sets available at this time.

For low-to-no input lag, fast response times, great colors, etc.what should I be looking for in this chart? Does Dell lack the obnoxious branding at power-on which I have seen from my work computers (it seems like the "ASUS" on the bevel isn't enough)?

Both. I enjoy emulating, especially MAME, NeoGeo, and those obscure systems that I cannot afford. Playing on real hardware is also a great experience, since I find it satisfying when I feel like a game I can just plug in a cartridge, turn on a system, and be directly in a gaame without any system-on splash screen or tech logos.

The Super Retro Trio was my best option to play my NES games I kept since it was $50. A NES in my area goes for $110-$135USD. As for the flash carts, they are sourced from China for their low price, which has been reported to damage consoles, so if they damage the Super Retro Trio, I would not be too distraught. Good eye to see the WonderMega, I love its looks and fancy motorized door.

I also have two of these monitors, GDM FW-900, for my computer. It is able to support the resolutions of my Xbox 360. Sadly I can only use one at a time because my desk is only rated to support the weight of just one. Also, I love Candy Cane, I bought her games.

>>4481375
I have to settle for cheap stuff from China because I don't earn enough. While I would definitely want to play on the original systems, they have just gotten too costly and I can't really tell the difference to the Chinese stuff unless I really focus on sensing it. The SNES controllers there are actually Genesis controllers, they are just shaped like SNES controllers. They came with the Super Retro Trio, and only the start and select buttons feel different from real SNES controllers.

I am so jealous. I want a large BVM/PVM but they just don't exist in my part of the USA. At $100 that's an amazing deal, if those monitors were in my area, they'd be worth at least 5-6 times more than what you will pay.

Yeah, it is my fault for living in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't even know what freight services are available that would deliver to a residence in this dump. Candy cabinets are very nice, are there any arcades around you that do have them? I would think the east coast would have tons, as New York has those nice arcades, even some modern ones too.

>>4340348
They work, and it was all I could afford. See that Zenith digital converter? That IS my TV and it isn't even a good brand. It is the problem of being poor, that's why those flash carts are fake Chinese ones, so they are cheaper.

OP only asked for personal grails. I am not going for rare, just what I want. Keio was a game I always wanted since I read about it in Gamefan and later EGM. The Aiwa I knew about and thought it looked cool (plus it plays cassette tapes). PVMs and BVMs are rare in my area, no one has them here, and no TV is produced in this area. I worked at a hospital before and they threw out all their CRTs the moment those early blurry flat panel LCDs became widely available back in '97, heath care is not given much a priority in these backwoods.

>>4340373
I did think it was cool to have the import version back then. It is a game I seriously always wanted. I just constantly was too broke to ever get the US SegaCD one, when I finally got a way to play SegaCDs. I guess that is why it is a personal grail.

Yeah, I just got outsnipped today for a MT32 with a missing volume knob (which I was hoping maybe to 3D print one day), as I only bid $70USD, and someone got one for $71USD. It suck not having the money to afford these things.

As for my FW900s, they were from a computer recycling center. You can see in the screen pictures (I adjusted the displayed width to 4:3 for those old DOS games) my "bad one" is a bit pale/bright with those strange diagonal swirls; but if I turn it off then on again, it is really sharp with some outstanding colors for about 15 or so minutes before reverting back to bright/blurry. So I will have to hunt someone down to fix it one day. The other one is much better display-wise, but has a light scratch down the center of what I hope to only be the anti-glare coating. That one just sits in my closet for now. Both of them are my computer monitors for decades as I cannot afford any new monitors.

I really want those BVMs and PVMs others have but I live in the middle of nowhere, and no one would have anything that fancy around. So those are really expensive. Last one I saw on craigslist was $600USD firm for a 20" that was broken, which is fair in my area sadly.

I just "SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 Tx" where x is the type of SoundBlaster ... it works for me throughout my time, but I hope someone else can explain to you and I better.

Pine Sol is just my choice brand for the soap portion. Use whatever you feel cleans it best. I mix to have it about 20% soap, the rest water to clean. I think those disinfecting wipes and dish soap leaves s sort of residue, but the 20% Pine Sol works fine for me. I know some people like using window cleaner like Windex.

I've mentioned a few times how I got most pictured there at a low price. The only one that is expensive is the gscartSW JP21 edition, which I had to get (and fortunate as superg will not make any more JP21 editions). Granted I am aiming for the stars wanting a 20" or 24" BVM, which will be expensive no matter what. They exceed my income and I don't have the means to get them. Their availability is pretty rare anyway around here. Maybe after 5 more years of tax returns I can afford one, but then I'd have to figure a way to ship it here.

>>3826861
Wait, I have a couple of FW900s. What is CRT_emudriver? What would I need it for? For the longest, I just used my old XRGB2 to get old consoles to work on 31khz computer monitors.

Okay, I was going to get a bit salty since I didn't have the option for a digital audio board and the price is now lower due to Brexit since I got mine.

>>3798556
The one pictured is a JP21 edition, which superg no longer makes but has the files up for any hobbyist/enthusiast to make. The Euro SCART version is available from time to time. I think he's currently focused on a component switch, but soon a lite version of the Euro SCART switch should be available.

I just remembered the rule to use an actual picture. So here is the second monitor in the closet lonely from non-use for years.
