This is the way to go. Half the fun of playing is learning how to optimize your strategy/mechanics. Sometimes even starting a new game halfway through because you learn things that will set you ahead of your current game (in terms of items, points or lives) if you replay up to that point.

After you get towards the end and things get rough, or on another round of play then it can be fun to research every aspect of a game. And find out tricks that are a godsend after already being good at the game from trial and error.

Mmmm gets me randy just thinking about it.
