It's the presentation that fucked over Duke himself.
Duke 3D was simple and didn't need constant exposure on how cool he is,his actions were more than enough,the levels? Just layers on top of a strong base.
DNF Duke felt like a sociopath who can't carry more than 4 weapons and gets wasted with a single can of beer,also dies. Pathetic compared to all the praise he gets in the game.

The worst case are those who say "Duke never changed" which clearly he did in this game

The game looks ugly even for 2011 standards. How do you make an enviroment that supposed to be satire and over the top set in Las Vegas look depressing?
It has its moments but really it looks so greasy.
