Not really. All he has to do is desolder the connector, cut up a cheap 4-pin molex cable and solder them to the pads on the PCB.

He's a retard to not just do >>8401186 but it'll probably work.

Good point, at least until there's a PS2 overhaul mod like the N64 just got.
Until then, Gamecube at least.

This thing is so low-end I can't even find a datasheet.
But I have a TVone video scaler so I'm sure I can get it working at least, albeit with a frame of lag.

Thank you. I've also got an amazon cart with a few other loose ends, like solder/flux/wire/pump/braid/multimeter/etc.; the main thing I guess was getting the green light on that soldering station, since it's relatively inexpensive compared to mid-tier models I'm seeing locally (which are double or triple the price). The tips I'm not too worried about though, they're just on some kind of historically high saving flash sale and I figure 'fuck it'.

Anyway, cheers.

>When did you write that originally? Like, 2005?
There's a couple small business owners (semi-professional hobbyists, really) assembling new CRTs from warehoused parts for specific applications like museums exhibits that rely on the tech. However the parts have almost run out and it's impossible to manufacture both financially (without the large-scale demand) and legally (lead/toxic chemicals involved).
You can't go into a store to buy a CRT obviously, but if you have a lot of money you can buy a, quote, "new" unit. But in 5 years even that wont be possible.

All that stuff sounds way better than LCDs.
Christ, is this how betamax and laserdisk fans feel?

You guys've already talked about it a little bit but I just got a broadcast CRT and I'm wondering what sort of audio setup would complement it (PVM has only mono output, I think, which is not great).
I looked into speakers since apparently DJ monitors are a bad choice but if the speakers seem pricey the stereo amplifiers they require are in another world (the """budget""" recommended option was some cambridge audio thing worth like 1500 AUD). I've only used PC speakers my whole life and I wouldn't mind investing in a stepup if there's a world of detail I've been missing, but that's just obscene. Are there options that wont break the bank?
