This honestly might be your best option unless you want to take your chances.
There are adapters that will let you use ps3/4 pads on the ps2.
Ebay or amazon are filled with fakes and aftermarkets that are all of chink quality.
Most aftermarket ones don't even have proper analog, just sticks that imitate 8-way movement of the dpad which defeats the point.

It begs the question why nobody has bothered making actual good ones.
The ps2 market is huge, the thing sold over a hundred million units, you can't tell me nobody would pay a premium for an 8bitdo quality ps2 pad.
... Which in itself begs the question why 8bitdo haven't made a ps1/2 adapter for their pads when this thing exists.

This is a totally personal issue, but I find old "pad" style controllers like the ones used throughout the 8- and 16-bit generations to be uncomfortable after long play sessions, and after a while, give me hand cramps, because I'm effectively gripping the pad with my fingers rather than the palms of my hands.

Are there any 3rd party retro controllers that come with dualshock-esque grips? The SN30 Pro+ is the only controller I'm aware of that's like this, and combined with 8bitdo's retro receivers, it and modern controllers are compatible with the NES/SNES/Genesis/Wii&U/etc, but I'm still wondering if there are any other controllers that exist?

Also as a quick aside, as I don't actually own any of the retro receivers - do they support wired USB controllers, or is the USB port on them merely for updating firmware?
